Intramural and Extramural Activities
Intramural and Extramural Activities play an essential role in fostering a well-rounded educational experience, promoting personal growth, teamwork, and social engagement. These activities are events that take place outside of the regular classroom or academic curriculum and are designed to provide students with additional learning experiences, socialization opportunities, teamwork, community-building and personal growth.
Intramural Activities
Intramural activities are organized within the boundaries of an institution, involving participants from the same institution. These are designed to facilitate community-building and participation. These activities provide a safe environment for skill development fostering camaraderie and healthy competition among peers and encourage leadership and team-building abilities. These activities include:
- Observance of important days (such as National Days, International Days, etc.)
- Celebrations (such as Christmas, Pongal, Onam, etc.)
- Literary Events (Recitations, art contests, debates, etc.)
- Dance Performances
- Tree Plantation Drives
- Intellectual Pursuits (such as Research Colloquium, Seminars, Conferences, Presentations, etc. organized within the institution)

Extramural Activities
Extramural activities are those that take place outside the regular institutional boundaries, involving inter-institutional or community participation. These activities provide opportunities for students to engage, compete, and collaborate beyond their immediate academic environment, enriching their overall learning experience. These activities include:
- Outreach activities (such as organizing community awareness program on concerns like education for women, environment issues and promoting general health, etc.)
- Educational tours (such as visit to museums, Arivu Thirukoil Center, village panchayat office, etc.)
- Inter-college events (such as sports, dance and other cultural events)
- Participation in knowledge-sharing sessions (such as national/international workshops, conferences and seminars organized by other institutions)
- Recreational activities (such as yoga, meditation, tours, picnics, etc.)

Research Colloquium
The Research Colloquium at MJCOE serves as a dynamic platform for faculty and students to engage in scholarly discussions, innovative research, and knowledge exchange. Designed to foster a culture of academic inquiry and collaboration, the colloquium features seminars, workshops, paper presentations, and expert talks, covering emerging trends and interdisciplinary research. MJCOE has proudly initiated its research colloquium activities in 2022, with a commitment toward enriching the academic and reflective capacities of teacher educators, scholars, and students, empowering them to contribute meaningfully to their fields.
Research Colloquium Series
Under the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. R. Ravi, Principal – MJCOE, and the academic stewardship of Dr. Revathy K, Assistant Professor, MJCOE, the Research Colloquium Series has been officially launched on 23rd January 2025, marking a new chapter in the college’s commitment to scholarly engagement and pedagogical innovation.
This initiative aims to foster reflective dialogue, research literacy, and professional enrichment among faculty, student-teachers, and research scholars.
