The research colloquium programme was inaugurated by Dr.R.Ravi, Principal, Michael Job Memorial College of Education for Women. A total of 41 participated in this colloquium. The session was engaged by Mrs.R.Gokilavani, Assistant Professor of our college. She presented on the topic – Types of Research . This session explored different types of Researches in Education.
A short description of the Session:
Research is a careful consideration of study regarding a particular concern or problem using scientific methods. The presenter elucidated on the three types of researches such as basic or fundamental research, applied research and action research. Basic research is a type of scientific research with aim of improving scientific theories for better understanding and prediction of natural or other phenomena. Applied research refers to scientific study and research that seeks to solve practical problems. This type of research plays an important role in solving everyday problems that often have an impact on life, work, health and overall well being. Action research is a process in which participants examine their own educational practice systematically and carefully using the techniques of research. Finally the presenter delivered an overview of the types of researches.
After the presentation, discussion was held in a successful manner. The discussion was convened by Dr. R.Ravi, Principal, Michael Job Memorial College of Education for Women. He called upon participants to ask and clarify their doubts in various types of researches. The presenter responded well to the students’ question. Finally Dr.R.Ravi, Principal, clarified the participants doubts. By this colloquium, participants gained sufficient research knowledge and really this session was a valuable and useful one.
